Moraga Art Gallery presents a new group show, "Pitchers, Pictures and Lotsa Bling," featuring local artists showing watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings, ceramics, photography, mixed media, jewelry and glass designs. The show will run through January 9, 2010. The Gallery is featuring the work of potter Donna Arganbright, who enjoys creating original, functional pottery and painter Bob Wahrhaftig, who loves to paint with strong colors; most recently portraits and figurative paintings. Annual Holiday Sale. Avid local potter, Kate Chenok, will be featured in the Clay Arts Guild annual holiday ceramics sale December 4 - December 6 in Walnut Creek. Chenok will be among over 40 East Bay artists displaying their works for sale, offering shoppers and art lovers a multitude of gallery quality, handmade gift ideas. “All That Glitters,”open through Dec 24, is the annual holiday exhibit at the Lafayette Gallery, 50 Lafayette Circle, Lafayette, California 94549. Painting, prints, photography, ceramics, watercolor and mixed media art works feature memories and personal expression. Select gallery artists create artistic ornaments and cards to welcome the season. A gala holiday reception is planned for December 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. The Epperson Gallery in Crockett presents “Let’s have a Look” a major show of works by legendary painters Pam Glover of Orinda and Jerrold Turner of Benicia. Both are founding members of the Outsiders, a group of fellow artists whose work has shown in galleries and museums throughout California. Pam and Jerrold have promoted the Plein Air movement in Northern California and they have influenced many of the current Plein Air painters in the Bay Area. MUSIC
Big Band Ball Room Dance, Friday December 4 with the Rossmoor Big Band at the Art Deco Rheem Theatre in Moraga. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the dance runs from 7:30pm through 10:00pm. The Rheem Theatre is located at 350 Park Street, in the Rheem Shopping Center. The Theatre was built in 1955. It is one of the last “classic” theaters built in the Bay Area and was known for live big band in years gone by. Tickets are $10.00, sold at the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce office, located at 100 Lafayette Circle #103, Lafayette. Tickets may also be purchased at the Rheem Theatre. The Saint Mary's College Student Chamber Musicians, directed by Lino Rivera, Dawn Foster-Dodson and Martin Rokeach will perform vocal and instrumental music by Bellini, Bach, Mozart and other composers. All That Jazz, a concert featuring the Campolindo Jazz Band. will be held on Thursday, December 10 at 7:30PM in the Campolindo Performing Arts Center, 300 Moraga Road, Moraga. Admission is free and open to the public. Special guest artists for the evening will be Fundz Jazz, a group of veteran San Francisco Bay Area musicians that have performed together in a wide variety of musical ensembles over the last 20 years. They come together in Fundz Jazz to perform some of their favorite jazz compositions from the last five decades. The group includes John Xepoleas - drums, Mike Williams - Guitar, Marc Levine - Bass and Dave Scott - Trumpet. Join us for an enjoyable evening of great jazz.

The Stratford at Countrywood, a Senior Community, presents A Dickens Holiday Celebration to benefit The Diablo Theater Company (formerly Diablo Light Opera Company) on Sunday, December 13th, 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Performers will turn the Stratford at Countrywood into the streets of Victorian London and bring to life scenes from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Meals on Wheels is pleased to proclaim November as “Meals on Wheels Month” and introduce its new annual fundraiser, “Dine Out.” Over 40 local restaurants throughout Lamorinda and Contra Costa County have partnered with the Dine Out program and their dining clientele to help raise much needed funding for hot meals delivered daily to shut-in seniors. Orinda Academy (OA), an independent, non-profit, co-educational day school serving grades 7-12 will hold an open house and tours of the school for prospective students and their families on Saturday, December 5, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The school is located at 19 Altarinda Road in Orinda, California. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet faculty, staff and students. In addition, they’ll learn why all students succeed at Orinda Academy, including those bright young students with learning differences. The Orinda Historical Society's annual holiday dinner will be held on Wednesday, December 2nd from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Orinda Community Church. The theme for the evening will be Downtown Orinda--Yesterday and Tomorrow featuring presentations by local architect Bill Simpson and Orinda Theater owner Tom Peterson.
