Photo provided | | | | | | Moragans of all ages can enjoy several different family-oriented musical activities and concerts at this year's Moraga Pear and Wine Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26 at the Moraga Commons.
Kids are invited to join DJ RyanO in the Great Moraga Sing-Along from 11 a.m. to noon where they can sing in the microphone and play their own non-electric hand-held instruments to the beats of today's hottest hits and youth anthems. Then they can join in Moraga's first outdoor bubble dance party from noon to 1 p.m.
DJ RyanO will be unveiling the automated mega bubble blower for hundreds of bubbles a minute and kids are encouraged to bring their own bubble blowers and bubble away to today's pop hits and water-themed tunes.
Of course, there will be pears and wine, and even a little bit of political information available, too.
Pear pies will be for sale at the event and a pear pie-eating contest for children will once again be offered. Children will have the opportunity to expend their energy on the bouncies provided by the Moraga Women's Society, and everyone can enjoy food from one of the popular food trucks that came to the Hacienda Nights, El Ranchero Food Truck. Community groups, such as the Lyons and the Kiwanis, will offer hot dogs and drinks.
The pear recipe contest is open to all residents. The participation form can be found on the town website at: www.moraga.ca.us/dept/park-rec/pearfestival.
Always a big attraction for the adult crowd, the wine portion of the festival will feature local wineries, including Vincenza Ranch, Meadow View Winery, Bullfrog Creek Vineyard, and Captain Vineyards. Attendees can sample their pinot noirs, petite syrahs, cabernet sauvignons, chardonnays, sangiovese, and more.
Several candidates competing in the upcoming elections will have informational booths at the Commons to answer questions.
The last half hour will be devoted to Moraga Request Live, where people can jot down their requests at the DJ booth or email them in advance to ryan@djryano.com.
