Campolindo High School Football Team Sends 6 to Play Football or Rugby in College

Michael Constable, Campolindo High School Senior offensive lineman, has accepted admission at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to play football for the Mustangs in the fall of 2008. Mike was a first team All-DFAL and second team All-East Bay offensive lineman for the 2007 season and played defense as well. He was a captain of the (9-3) Campolindo Cougars NCS 2A Finalist. Mike was also considering University of San Diego , University of Southern Utah , and UC Davis Bo Richter, Campolindo High School Senior running back, will be attending UC Berkeley in the Fall of 2008, and will play rugby for the National Champion Cal Rugby. Bo was a second team All-DFAL running back on the Campolindo football team, where he contributed to a successful season and a run for the NCS 2A title. After the football season, Bo captained the Lamorinda Rodents Rugby club in a very successful campaign, traveling to New Zealand , and then into the Northern California club championship game and regional playoffs in Utah . Bo is a four-year Scholar Athlete. Giorgio Tavecchio, placekicker fom Campolindo High School , has committed to play football for the University of California Golden Bears in the fall of 2008. Giorgio, a second-team all DFAL kicker for the 2007 season, played a major role in the Cougars' playoff run which saw them beat two of the top three seeds only to lose a heartbreaker to Las Lomas in the finals. Giorgio was also considering UC Davis (soccer), UC San Diego (soccer), and Willamette University (football). Nick Mascheroni, Campolindo High School Senior wide receiver, has accepted admission at Cal Berkeley to play rugby for the Bears in the fall of 2008. As wide receiver, Nick was a first team All-DFAL in `06 and `07, as well as named All-East Bay and All-Metro in `07. Nick played Varsity for three years as wide receiver, defensive back, and kick and punt returner. He was a captain in `06 and `07. In `07, the Campolindo Cougars (9-3) were NCS 2A Finalist. Nick switched from lacrosse to rugby his junior year. He played wing for the Lamorinda Rodents Rugby Club in `07 and `08. Evan Schlinkert, Campolindo High School senior, scrum half for the Lamorinda Rodents Rugby team has chosen to attend St. Mary's College of California where he will play rugby for the number two team in the nation. This season Evan traveled with the Lamorinda Rodents in tournament play to Portland Oregon, San Luis Obispo, Sacramento, New Zealand,and on to the semi finals in Salt Lake City,Utah.Evan anchored the front line forwards and at the invitational Stanford Rugby tournament won honorable mention first team Northern California. Zachary Zaharoff, Campolindo High School Senior Wide Receiver/Tight End has decided to accept admission at University of Washington in Seattle where he will join the Husky Rugby team. Zack played with the Lamorinda Rugby Club during the 2008 season and looks forward to pursuing the sport at an intercollegiate level.
