Moraga Police Blotter
Grandson scam, 10/06/09 A Calle La Montana resident called to request the Moraga P.D. contact her mother-in-law regarding a possible scam. The older woman sent $5,300 via Western Union to Niagara Falls, Canada to a male subject who claimed he was her grandson and said he was "in trouble." The victim felt sure it was her grandson, but became suspicious after contacting family members to check on the young fellow. At that point it was too late and the money was gone, Western Union couldn't provide any leads or information.
Car Burglary, 10/12/09 Between 2:30 and 3:30 in the afternoon an unknown person smashed a side window of a car parked on Country Club Drive and stole a purse containing personal information, credit cards and keys. Estimated total loss $1,000. Where are those MCC security guys when you need them?
Car vandalism 10/10/09 An Ascot Drive resident parked his Toyota Corolla in the carport at approximately 9:30 at night. When he returned to his vehicle the next morning the gas cap was pried open and there were several large and deep scratches on the trunk. Estimated damage $400. So random, so pointless.
Two out of three - goners, 10/10/09 A resident attended a function at St. Mary's College on Saturday night. The next morning he discovered that he left his jacket, camera and wallet at the school. Upon his return the next day, he located his jacket, but not his wallet or camera. Must have been some function.
