The grueling pre-season workouts and October tryout landed Coaches Bill Warehouse and Victor Silva a squad consisting of ten freshmen and one sophomore girl. At first blush, Acalanes did not appear to have won the basketball lottery. Then, this newly formed team took the court.

The team beat most of its non-conference opponents, including a championship win at the Livermore Cowboys Tournament. The squad then lost its only game of the season, to perennial basketball powerhouse Bishop O'Dowd, in the Irvington Classic Tournament championship game.

The JV Dons are now undefeated (7-0) in their DFAL league games and boast a 19-1 record overall. They have been beating their opponents by an average of 26 points per game.

The Dons' toughest competition during the regular season has come from cross-town rival Campolindo, with the Dons posting a narrow 44-40 victory. The Campo coaches also happen to be the dads of two Acalanes players, ironically fueling this decades-old rivalry. Needless to say, this sets the stage for high drama over the next three seasons (hide those playbooks, girls).

"The leadership provided by team captain, sophomore Olivia Murphy, has been instrumental in the team's success," according to head coach Warehouse.
