The Moraga Town Council, at its regular meeting on January 27th, presented a Proclamation thanking the Rotary Club of Moraga for the upper Commons play structure demolition and installation assistance. The proclamation was introduced by Parks and Recreation Director Jay Ingram, who read into the record the list of participants from Moraga Rotary, Orinda Rotary, St. Mary's Rotaract Club, Boy Scout Troop 246, parents, and friends. The proclamation was read and presented to Rotary President Vickie Devlin by Mayor Ken Chew, and the Town Council congratulated the Rotarians and other participants who were present.

In a surprise presentation, Mayor Chew also gave the group an inscribed plaque mounted on a small remnant piece of rubberized matting from the project site. This matting is appropriate because it was particularly difficult to cut up and haul away, and could not be re-used.

The Proclamation also acknowledged that Moraga Rotary palletized and shipped the play structure parts to Club Rotario de Montemorelos, in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, which intends to rebuild the play structure in a new park there.

The closing paragraph of the Proclamation read, "I, Ken Chew, Mayor of the Town of Moraga, do hereby thank Rotary Club of Moraga for living the example of 'Service above Self' for our great Town and all its residents who will enjoy this new play structure."
