Call to Artists-Orinda's Silver Celebration with the Arts
By Andrea A. Firth
Painting by Allison McCrady
Local artists are encouraged to submit artwork-with an Orinda theme-for selection in a juried fine arts auction to be held at a black tie dinner dance celebrating Orinda's 25th anniversary on October 2nd. The artwork must depict Orinda, but artists are encouraged to be creative and inventive, non-representational and three-dimensional works are encouraged. The silver celebration event and auction will raise money for Orinda's Community Fund, which supports community events and the visual and performing arts. Artwork juried into the auction will be a tax-deductible donation by the artist.

"This event has really been structured with the artists in mind," says aMFa gallery owner Allison McCrady, who is chairing the auction and dinner dance. "For artists who are juried into the auction, there will also be several other opportunities throughout the summer to show other works publicly and sell them commission-free," she adds. Prelude events include art displays throughout Theater Square in July and August and an exhibit at the Library Gallery in September.

Artwork, ready for display, may be submitted between noon and 4 p.m. on April 22nd, May 6th, or May 27th to the aMFa Gallery in Orinda's Theater Square. There is a $25.00 fee for submission. For further information or to schedule an appointment to drop-off artwork, contact Allison McCrady at (925) 788-5866.

"I think an art event like this is great for Orinda," says McCrady a well-known local painter who promotes many other area artists through her aMFa Gallery. "There are many great artists in our community. It is great to have an opportunity to share their work and their interpretations of our beautiful city with the broader community."
