Moraga Kiwanis Donates Books to Lamorinda School Libraries
Submitted by Bob Reynolds
Thank you notes
The Kiwanis Club of Moraga Valley recently completed a donation of more than 330 books to the eleven elementary school libraries in the Lamorinda community. Funded by Kiwanis, the titles were selected by school librarians through the extensive selection of the Storyteller Bookstore in Lafayette that also provided administrative support for the donation.
"This is the third year we have done this donation" said Kiwanis President John Haffner. "It is one of our favorite ways to give back to the Lamorinda Communities that support our fundraising efforts."
Carol Helton, Librarian at Moraga's Los Perales School, said, "These books will be wonderful additions to the Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Holiday sections of our Library. To date, Kiwanis has placed 107 books in our Library. WOW!"
A thank you note signed by Los Perales student Briggette J added, "Thanks for The Jellybeans and the Big Book Bonanza. Thanks for all of these wonderful books. We are full of them up to the neck."
Kiwanis of Moraga Valley is an active group of about 60 men and women who work to better the Lamorinda and surrounding communities. Its Foundation raises funds throughout the year to provide community support both in Lamorinda and in other communities. Kiwanis mission is to "serve the children of the world."
Kiwanis of Moraga Valley meets weekly, every Thursday at 7:15 AM at the Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church. The club welcomes people interested in serving their community to come to a meeting and to learn more about Kiwanis and its program.
