Lamorinda United 94 Plays in Vegas

The Lamorinda United 94 Soccer Team (LMSC) flew into Las Vegas to play in the prestigious Las Vegas College Showcase March 11-13.

Lamorinda opened up tournament action against the Chantilly Firecats from Virginia. Chantilly is currently ranked second in the nation according to gotsoccer.com. Lamorinda played courageously, and even outshot Chantilly by a margin of 18-11, but lost 1-0 in the contest.

On Saturday, Lamorinda faced two more nationally ranked opponents. The first match pitted United 94 against the McLean MPS Power. Lamorinda defeated the squad from McLean, Virginia by a score of 3-1 with two goals coming from captain Val Margerum and another tally from Samantha Zarling.

On Saturday evening Lamorinda played Empire Soccer Academy from New York. Lamorinda won, 4-2. Campolindo's Margerum paced United once again with two goals, Acalanes' Kaitlin McGee and Jessica Jara notched one each.

On Sunday morning, Lamorinda defeated East Meadow Soccer Club, 4-1. Margerum, Claire Winter, Megan Turner, and Becca Bostwick each scored. Lamorinda United 94 concluded the weekend 3-1 and finished second place. The tournament success pushed Lamorinda United into the number four spot on the gotsoccer.com rankings.
