Boy Scout Troop 249 has recognized four new Eagle Scouts in achieving scouting's highest rank. David Fuhriman, Mitchell Larson, Zach Sorenson, and Christian Thatcher, all Orinda residents, were honored on April 23rd in their Court of Honor. Scoutmaster Jeff Logan presented the awards.

David Austin Fuhriman (Miramonte) designed and built a 650-foot long path to complete a walking/running path (the route of his very first mile run!) around the play fields at Del Rey School in Orinda. For labor, David managed not only his scout troop, but many Orindans as he lead a work party during the Orinda in Action service day.

Mitchell Ryan Larson, who will be attending Brigham Young University in May, designed and built a shed for the garden at Orinda Intermediate School. Larson led scouts in building the structure in the family garage, transported and assembled it at OIS, where it stores supplies for the OIS student garden club.

Zachary William Sorenson (Miramonte) refurbished the Butterfly Garden at Glorietta Elementary School. With the help of the troop, he installed new raised beds and a drainage system, repaired old beds, and added a "welcome" sign.

Christian Alan Thatcher (Miramonte), along with the help of many scouts, friends, leaders and parents, constructed the new Glorietta Elementary sign and bench in front of the ball field on Glorietta Blvd. The sign is dedicated to his third grade teacher, Ms. Sue Johnson, and his friend, Joe Loudon.

These young men acknowledge the wonderful support from dedicated scout leaders.
