Bill Snider was honored as Moraga's Business Person of the Year at a celebratory dinner held in late February at the Moraga Country Club. Snider is the owner of Moraga Hardware and Lumber, which he purchased in 2000; and Across the Way, a sophisticated lifestyle store he started in 2002.
Snider chose the community of Moraga as the place he wanted to raise his family and grow a business. His philosophy is that local business owners who live and work in a town are its backbone. "Locally operated businesses give back to schools, churches, and service groups," said Snider. "They invest in the customers who support them; it is a circle of wealth that benefits everyone."
Even though Snider has had to face tough competition, he continues to do what he can to give back. "I am guarded and optimistic for 2013," he said.
At the successful February dinner, which was sponsored by the local branch of Union Bank, Snider said he felt honored to have been chosen and dedicated the distinction to his clients and his employees. "I want to give a lot of credit to my staff," he said. "We are a team and I know I can rely on their competence and sense of customer service."
Snider is also known for his humor, a passion for Harleys, and his willingness to seek out new, environmentally friendly products.
