Two of Moraga's most dedicated volunteers were honored at the 16th Las Trampas Creek Founders' Day luncheon on Tuesday, April 29. Moraga School District Superintendent Bruce Burns presented Kathy Ranstrom and Nancy Kendzierski with one of PTA's highest recognitions, the Very Special Person Award. The VSP Award is given to individuals or organizations that demonstrate outstanding service to their PTA. Ranstrom and Kendzierski most recently co-chaired the successful Measure B parcel tax campaign, a $192 parcel tax for Moraga's K-8 schools. Voters passed the measure during the November 2013 election with 68 percent of the vote.
Their list of accomplishments and service to Moraga's schools was too extensive for Burns to list individually, however, Burns told the group of Lamorinda superintendents, principals, PTA presidents and executive board members that he was extremely grateful for their "unparalleled service, steadfast leadership and unmatched passion to ensure a high quality education for our students."
