Eric Jorgensen, Scoutmaster for Orinda's Boy Scout Troop 237, was recently recognized at his "retirement" celebration. For the past 10 years, Jorgensen has served as the troop's Scoutmaster, spending countless hours on camping trips and outings, at weekly scout meetings, teaching scouts outdoor skills, assisting with merit badges and rank advancement, and demonstrating by example how to live by the Scout Oath and Law.
Under Jorgensen's leadership, over 60 scouts have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, which is the highest rank in Boy Scouts, and he will continue to work with other Scouts in their quest to earn the Eagle rank.
Jorgensen, an Eagle Scout himself, began volunteering with Troop 4 in Berkeley before becoming Cubmaster of Pack 212 in Orinda. He became an assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 237 in 2006 before taking over the Scoutmaster reigns in 2007.
