Bridget Jones hit theaters nationwide this past week with the third installment: "Bridget Jones's Baby." We all remember the hopelessly romantic Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) in the 2001 box office hit, "Bridget Jones's Diary" - the movie that made Zellweger a household name and the girl next door that everyone loved. The original grossed over $254 million worldwide. The sequel, "Bridget Jones's The Edge of Reason" was released in 2004 generating $228 million around the world.
This time, Bridget's life is once again interrupted when she discovers she is pregnant but is not sure who the daddy is. Well it's a 50-50 chance between two men: Mark, once again portrayed by Colin Firth, and newcomer to the film franchise, Jack (Patrick Dempsey). Hugh Grant does not appear in the film but the story begins with Hugh Grant's character Daniel's funeral. The movie has several funny moments throughout the two hours and two minutes, although at times it appears like the "Who's the Dad" theme is stretched. But all is saved with the appearance of two-time Oscar recipient Emma Thompson in her role as Dr. Rawlings. She delivers much more than a baby in the delivery room.
"Bridget Jones's Baby" is a fun date night movie that is directed by Sharon Maguire, who also directed the first installment of this film franchise.
