Lafayette Superintendent Fred Brill (left) and Acalanes Union High School Superintendent Jim Negri (center) held an informal informational session on April 17 for Lafayette parents as the community grapples with the additional need for school funding. Hosted by The Lafayette Arts and Science Foundation (LASF), the lively exchange of ideas and information sparked a greater awareness for badly needed financial support to bridge the gap caused by the State budgetary shortfall. (On May 19, voters will head to the polls for a special election to cast votes for measures 1A through 1F, which could impact how the state of California allocates funds to schools, how state legislators are paid during budget deficit years, and how the state can access funds from California Lottery profits. For detailed information about the propositions, visit the Legislative Analyst's Office Web site: http://www.lao.ca.gov/laoapp/ballot_source/Propositions.aspx.)
