"I am delighted to announce that we promoted Sergeant Jeff Price to Lieutenant," says Robert Priebe, Moraga's Chief of Police. Price, a native of Orinda, graduated from Miramonte and earned his bachelor degree at Saint Mary's College. He lives in Lamorinda. "Jeff's been with us in Moraga for 28 years, and he is an excellent officer," states Priebe of the Lieutenant who is now his second in command.
"I've really enjoyed working in Moraga," says Price, "in a small town we are able to develop and maintain one on one relationships with residents and officials and that makes our job easier and more efficient."
Price plans to work in Moraga for another four to five years and then retire, at about the same time Chief Priebe may also retire, and that's what he sees as his big challenge for the coming years. "We have in front of us some hiring, training and developing of our employees," says Price, "we want to retain them, and make sure they'll be ready to assume leadership roles when the time comes." In the meantime, Price adds that he looks forward to continuing his good relationship with the community.
Officer Brian South is now Sergeant South. South is a native Moragan who graduated from Campolindo. He is working on his degree as he works on the force. "Brian has been with us as an officer for 7 years," comments Priebe, "prior to that he was a reserve officer with us."
Promoted from Officer to Acting Sergeant was Will Davis. Davis' background is somewhat unusual. After graduating from Saint Mary's, he earned a Juris Doctor from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific. After being a Deputy District Attorney for Yolo County and then for Contra Costa County, he put himself through the police academy and was hired in Moraga 2 1/2 years ago. "I think he's really found his niche," said Priebe, "and he is very good at what he does."
