The Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD) was one of several agencies that responded to a vegetation fire in the East Bay Regional Parks Las Trampas Regional Wilderness, which straddles the MOFD and Alameda County Fire boundaries. A jogger reported smoke in the area just after 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 5.

Crews from MOFD, San Ramon Valley Fire, Cal Fire, Alameda County Fire, Contra Costa County Fire, East Bay Parks Fire, and East Bay Municipal Utility District all worked to contain this 40 acre brush fire.

The fire was contained quickly, according to MOFD Battalion Chief Stephen Healy, “because of the cooperation between all the fire jurisdictions on scene. This fire had the potential of growing very quickly; with the coordinated effort from crews in the air and on the ground crews were able to extinguish the fire in less than two hours.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Healy said that no injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
