MOFD Board Decides Not To Purchase Administration Building
By Lucy Amaral

In an unexpected turn of events, several board members of the Moraga Orinda Fire District (MOFD) reversed their previous decision, opting to now oppose the purchase of 1150 Moraga Way. The purchase of the building was approved at the December 28, 2011 MOFD Board meeting, is currently in escrow and, according to Board Member Dick Olsen, is scheduled to close on January 26. The building was to serve as the new administrative offices for MOFD.
Board President Fred Weil and Board Member Frank Sperling said that while they felt the issue had been vetted correctly, the negative public perception could put the future of the District in jeopardy and therefore must oppose the purchase of the building.
The Board will meet again on Saturday, January 21 at 9:00 a.m. at the Sarge Littlehale room at Orinda City Hall to formally approve the cancellation.
A complete recap of the meeting will appear in the February 1 issue of Lamorinda Weekly.
