Army of the Kind Conquers Orinda April 18
Traversing the creek was all part of the job for some last Saturday.

Over hill, over dale, a small army of more than 100 Orindans hit both dusty and muddy trails as they rolled out for Orinda Action Day April 18. The young and young-at-heart do-gooders "de-icked" local creeks, pounced on litter in city parks, spruced up community center flowerboxes in the Village section of the city, and improved the quality of life for city residents, including frogs, birds, bees and gorgeous old growth trees.
According to an early post-event recap provided by OAD co-organizer, Holly Henkel, one group of Girl Scouts made two of the more interesting discoveries of the day - a discarded generator and a broken chair that had been dumped up on a hill behind the Orinda Park.
Along the way, many of those who turned out to help also ended up making new friends and learning a life lesson or two as they brought to life the words of Cleveland Amory: "What this world needs is a new kind of army - the army of the kind."
